Bury St Edmunds, UK: 20 February 2012 –The Vitec
Group will host some of the most renowned figures in the broadcast and film making industry in its dedicated
Live Event Area at this year’s NAB2012 on 16-19 April.
The independent experts, ranging from directors of photography, to directors and filmmakers,
will share their knowledge and expertise on the latest products, technology and techniques. They will be
joined in the Live Event Area by representatives from key Vitec Group brands to hold a range of informative
sessions for NAB2012 visitors.
The Live Event Area will feature six, daily one-hour sessions covering hot topics and tips on
everything from emerging technologies to discussions on innovative lighting techniques. Brand advocates
for Anton Bauer, Autoscript, Bexel, Litepanels, Manfrotto, Microwave Service Company, Nucomm, OConnor, RF Central, Sachtler, Vinten and Vinten Radamec will lead the sessions and be on hand to share their extensive knowledge.
Each day a headline speaker will lead a “Meet the Experts” session to pass on their personal
experiences of the industry using flagship products from Vitec Group brands. There will also be a panel of
experts leading a more general session discussing the latest hot topics on Tuesday 17 April at 16h00 –
17h00.
Speakers confirmed so far include director and Pulitzer Prize winning photographer,
Vincent Laforet, who will discuss “Emerging Technology and Digital Storytelling” on Monday 16 April, 12h30 –
13h30. Vincent is known for his forward thinking approach to image-making. He is considered a pioneer both
for his innovative tilt-shift and aerial photography and in the field of HD-capable DSLR cameras.
Another “Meet the Experts” slot will be hosted by the BAFTA nominated film maker,
Philip Bloom, who will address the audience on Tuesday 17 April, 12h30 – 13h30 about choosing the right
gear for professional film making. Philip is one of the new breed of cinematographers and has been credited
with helping to popularise the DSLR video revolution.
Other key speakers at the event include Pulitzer Prize
winner and former newspaper photographer of the year, Bill Frakes, who will introduce the new SYMPLA product range of supports developed in conjunction with
Manfrotto, Sundance Film Festival winners, the Bui Brothers, and American filmmaker, Freddie Wong, who will ‘shed some light’ on his innovative and new wave feature films.
The Live Event Area is part of The Vitec Group booth on stand C6929, in the Central Hall. The
stand also features several of The Vitec Group brands demonstrating a range of best-in-class, industry
leading technology in video camera equipment.
